TREE RISK EVALUATION

The Village of Russells Point will be collaborating with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry to perform an evaluation of trees in the village. This is an opportunity to assess trees that may have been damaged by the EF3 Tornado on March 14, 2024.

This process involved ODNR staff and Russells Point Officials conducting field studies of tree measurements and conditions. There may be some markings on the trees as the process moves forward.

BOARD OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS VACANCIES

The Village of Russells Point has three vacancies on the Board of Trustees of Public Affairs.

Candidates are required to be a registered voter with at least 1 year of residence in the Village of Russells Point.

The Village Council must establish a Board of Trustees of Public Affairs made up of three residents whenever the village is involved with a public utility.

Members are appointed by the Mayor, subject to the Council's approval, until their successors can be elected. Two of the three vacant terms end on December 31, 2027, one of them ends on December 31, 2025.

If a Board member moves from the village, the member can no longer continue the term of office and, therefore, must resign.

The Board of Trustees of Public Affairs has the powers and duties relating to village utility services. The Village Council must approve expenditures, while the Board manages the operations of the utilities. As a rule, the Village Council makes major policy decisions regarding village utilities, and must authorize large expenditures, while the Board manages the operation of the utilities.

Eligible candidates should attend Council Meetings on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 7:00 PM and may contact Mayor Robin Reames via e-mail mayor@russellspoint-oh.gov or phone at (937) 843-2601.
